Dr. James Sidd joined the Navajo Nation Clinic of the Tohatchi Health Center, located on the southeastern portion of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Tohatchi, New Mexico, as a staff dentist in 2009. He was rapidly promoted to Acting Chief in 2010, and then to Dental Service Chief in November 2011.
Dr. Sidd's responsibilities at the Navajo Nation clinic, which serves approximately 8,000 patients, include performing general dental services as well as supervising a staff which includes a dentist, a dental resident, a dental hygienist, a front office manager, and six dental assistants. As the Chief Dentist, Dr. Sidd initiated specialty services for the patients of the clinic, including endodontics and fixed and removable prosthodontics.
Dr. James Sidd earned both his Bachelor's degree, in 1981, and his Master of Business Administration, in 1984, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his D.D.S. in 1998 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Sidd is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dental Medicine at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and he teaches dental residents on a rotating basis at his New Mexico clinic. Dr. Sidd is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and also holds privileges to practice dentistry at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM.
In his free time, Dr. James Sidd enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He counts scuba diving and hiking among his leisure activities, and is an avid listener and supporter of National Public Radio.
